The latest from Ruthie: I'm back!
September 2007 First of all can I apologise for the amount of time I've gone AWOL! I have been enjoying some quality time with my family. My husband Tim has been starring on Broadway in Rent and so we all went along for an adventure - and boy, did we have one. New York is full of the wonderful and the strange and one day can bring you both! I loved our adventure there and it will always be my second home, but I missed England so much. We complain about it but we live in a wonderful country - the one thing I hate is us Brits abroad but it's not that bad here you know. I think we may have become more friendly as well. Anyhoo, as wonderful as I think New York is, it is not a place I want to bring up my children so here I am back home and now waiting for a wonderful job to start.
From the dressing room: Marian Halcombe
September 2005 Five months after the birth of her second child, Dolly, Ruthie made her return to the West End stage this July in Andrew Lloyd Webber's new musical, The Woman In White. We catch up with her in her dressing room at the Palace Theatre, as she prepares for another performance as Marian.
The latest from Ruthie: It's me!
September 2005 I know it's been a long time since I last wrote - thank you so much for all the letters and emails, and for being so patient! So much has happened since then. Baby Dolly was born in January, and she is an absolute joy. We thought that as we had such an easy time with Lily it would be our turn to have a little devil, but she really is a delight. She has the biggest smile in the world, she smiles at everything, and it's so infectious! Of course, Lily is growing up into a gorgeous little girl and is already something of a performer. She has a wonderful time whenever I bring her into work, and I have a sneaky suspicion she might want to follow in her Mum and Dad's footsteps.
The latest from Ruthie: Greetings from Essex!
January 2004 When I sit and read your emails (and I promise I do) I am so knocked out by your generosity and kind words. I just wanted to thank you all for your support and also thank you for travelling, sometimes a long way, and often on a very tight budget, to see me perform. I'm sorry that I can't reply personally to every email, I would love to as they are so great, but being a mummy is all consuming - and as I only type with one finger, it would take all year!
The pro's on being con's!
November 2003 On November 1st, Ruthie finished her 20-week return to Chicago. She created the role of Roxie in the London production, and returned to the show as Velma, the role she played on Broadway. You can read our interview with Ruthie about her return below, but here some of the other cast members talk to us about working with Ruthie and what it's like behind the Razzle Dazzle.
The latest from Ruthie: Proms in the Park
October 2003 This year I had the honour of being invited to perform at the BBC Prom in the Park in Hyde Park, London. It was an amazing experience for me, not just because to perform to a crowd that size was absolutely exhilarating, but because for years I have always wanted to attend one!
The latest from Ruthie: Sunday at Dress Circle
September 2003 On Sunday I spent my afternoon in Covent Garden, signing autographs at the Theatre Museum and behind the counter in Dress Circle to raise money and awareness for Theatre Cares. It was lovely to see so many of you show your support, and I hope those of you who couldn't make it will enjoy these pictures.
The latest from Ruthie: Making It
August 2003 I'm asked so many times for advice on getting into musical theatre, so I thought I would put my experience down on paper - or rather computer!
From the dressing room: Velma Kelly
June 2003 As Ruthie transforms herself into Velma for the second night of her run in Chicago, she talks to us about her much anticipated return.
