The latest from Ruthie: It's Me!

September 2005

Dear All,

I know it's been a long time since I last wrote - thank you so much for all the letters and emails, and for being so patient!

So much has happened since then. Baby Dolly was born in January, and she is an absolute joy. We thought that as we had such an easy time with Lily it would be our turn to have a little devil, but she really is a delight. She has the biggest smile in the world, she smiles at everything, and it's so infectious! Of course, Lily is growing up into a gorgeous little girl and is already something of a performer. She has a wonderful time whenever I bring her into work, and I have a sneaky suspicion she might want to follow in her Mum and Dad's footsteps.

Tim and I married last September, and this year really has flown by. I have to say I LOVE being married, I really do. It's something I'd been reluctant about in the past, and none of my fears were in any way confirmed. People say it makes no difference, it's just a piece of paper, but I have to disagree. It changes your whole world, and I now have a real sense of family. My family. The wedding was the most beautiful perfect day, particularly the ceremony. I remember seeing our friends and family, feeling so much love and support, and concentrating so hard on every word spoken to me at the altar. I didn't want to miss one moment.

Now I'm back in a show, and I'm loving it, although I can't help but feel guilty about not spending enough time with my girls! I'm still planning the album with EMI, and I'll let you know as soon as there's news on that one - I just need to stop having babies! You may have seen me in the Christmas Carol movie with Kelsey Grammer, which should be out on DVD soon, and the concert I did with Lesley Garrett and Michael McCarthy last summer is now out on DVD - and in January I'll be on the BBC in their new show Simply Musicals. Any television exposure for theatre is wonderful, and I really do hope it proves popular.

I hope you all had a lovely Summer, and if you can make it to the Palace, do say hello after the show!

All my love,

Ruthie xxx
