The latest from Ruthie: I'm Back!

September 2007

First of all can I apologise for the amount of time I've gone AWOL! I have been enjoying some quality time with my family. My husband Tim has been starring on Broadway in Rent and so we all went along for an adventure - and boy, did we have one. New York is full of the wonderful and the strange and one day can bring you both! I loved our adventure there and it will always be my second home, but I missed England so much. We complain about it but we live in a wonderful country - the one thing I hate is us Brits abroad but it's not that bad here you know. I think we may have become more friendly as well. Anyhoo, as wonderful as I think New York is, it is not a place I want to bring up my children so here I am back home and now waiting for a wonderful job to start.

Next year I will be doing a new musical called Marguerite, which opens in May, and having done a workshop of it I can tell you you are in for a treat. Written by the creators of Les Mis and Miss Saigon, Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schoenberg, plus music by triple oscar-winner Michel Legrand and libretto by Jonathan Kent and also Herbie Kretzmer - you can imagine how excited I am and how fantastic it will be. But all good things are worth waiting for I keep telling myself, having to wait till next March to start rehearsals.

Tim has filmed a new video for his band Van Tramp as they have a deal with a record company and I shall be doing whatever and being a mummy. Lily and Dolly are full on and wonderful so it's a full time thing but they are interesting and funny and gifted and so fantastic that they keep me entertained always. Dolly came out of the womb dancing and Lily loves to make you laugh. I love them more than a heart should be able to love!

I am so sorry that I can't reply to your emails but I do read them all and I thank you so much for all the kind things you write, they make a girl's heart feel full!!

Take care and much love,

Ruthie xx
